Charme Niepoort Red 2023

Vinification of Charme Niepoort Red: The 2023 agricultural year started extremely well, with a humid winter that was very timely to replenish water reserves after an extremely dry year. Spring was relatively warm and dry, followed by a summer that can be classified as normally warm. The harvest in Vale de Mendiz began under extremely hot conditions on August 24, with the last grape intake occurring on September 26. The whole clusters were lightly trodden in granite lagares. The most important period in this winemaking process is the time of pre-fermentation maceration and the start of alcoholic fermentation, where the extraction is very short but intense. The fermentation of Charme is initially done in lagares and then the process is completed in barrels. It ages in French oak barrels for 15 months.
