Series Bastardo Red 2018

Bastardo, like Malvasia Preta, is planted at Quinta das Carvalhas, at a relatively high altitude, but facing south. Every year, the Bastardo grape variety is the first to be harvested among the red grapes, being known for having a short ripening cycle, and it is also sensitive to rot during the over-ripening phase. We believe in this variety not only for its adaptability but above all for its very strong varietal character, where its aromatic and palate intensity are truly impressive. The fermentation takes place in small stainless steel tanks with skin contact, followed by a 12-month aging in used French oak barrels.
