Vallado Lady Baga Red 2023

Vinification of Lady Baga from Quinta do Vallado: The grapes are 100% from a north-facing vineyard at Quinta do Orgal in Douro Superior, with certified organic vinification. To achieve a gentle extraction, 20% of the grapes used were whole clusters (not destemmed) and the remaining 80% were whole berries (not crushed). After a cold maceration for 24 hours, the grapes fermented for a week with very little extraction. Immediately after alcoholic fermentation, the wine was racked into used 225-liter French oak barrels where it underwent malolactic fermentation and remained for about 12 months.
