Porto Ferreira Dona Antónia 10 Years is a special wine, a Porto Tawny with an age indication symbolizing the perfect alliance between the unique nature of the Douro and the skill of Man, in a harmony of knowledge established at Ferreira for over 250 years. The hand-picked grapes were vinified according to the traditional Porto Wine method. The controlled fermentation of the musts took place in stainless steel vats, being stopped by the addition of grape spirit. The wines were very elegant and with great aging potential. The wines that make up the final blend of Porto Ferreira Dona Antónia Tawny 10 Years remain in the Douro until they are transported to the Ferreira cellars in V.N.Gaia during the following Spring. Upon arrival, the wines enter the traditional aging scheme of Porto Wine, in oak wooden casks, undergoing numerous rackings, analyses, and tastings, which allow monitoring of their aging, and acting with blending, refreshing, and corrections whenever the tasting determines. The final blend is generally obtained using wines between 8 and 15 years old, in order to achieve an average age of 10 years, maintaining consistent quality and the unique style of Porto Ferreira Dona Antónia Tawny 10 Years.
