Porto Ferreira Ruby

Ferreira Ruby is a classic ruby Porto wine, a young and attractive wine, with the genuine flavor of the best wines produced in the Douro region with the care and knowledge accumulated over more than 250 years of excellence that make Ferreira the oldest and most celebrated Portuguese Porto wine brand in the world. The hand-picked grapes were vinified according to the traditional Porto wine method. After gentle crushing with partial destemming, alcoholic fermentation with maceration follows, allowing the greatest possible extraction of the constituents of the skins. Fermentation takes place under controlled temperature and is stopped by the addition of grape spirit at the moment considered ideal by the winemaker, taking into account the grape varieties, degree of ripeness, and desired sweetness. The final balance between the body and aroma of the Porto wine comes from the combination of the different characteristics of the multiple grape varieties used. The wine remains in the Douro where the winter cold helps the sedimentation of the lees. The following spring, after being clarified, it is transported to the Ferreira cellars in V.N. Gaia and placed in oak barrels where it will age for several years, acquiring the incomparable style of the Ferreira brand. During aging, the wines are cared for and tasted by the oenology team who blend them until reaching the final blend with the characteristics and style of Ferreira. The final blend has an average age of about 3 years.
