Description
Description
Porto Ferreira Tawny is a classic, elegant, and very appealing tawny Port Wine, with the genuine flavor of the best wines produced in the Douro region with the care and knowledge accumulated over more than 250 years of excellence that make Ferreira the oldest and most celebrated Portuguese Port Wine brand in the world. The hand-picked grapes were vinified according to the traditional Port Wine method. After gentle crushing with partial destemming, alcoholic fermentation with maceration follows, allowing the greatest possible extraction of the constituents of the skins. Fermentation takes place under controlled temperature and is stopped by the addition of grape spirit at the moment considered ideal by the winemaker, taking into account the grape varieties, degree of ripeness, and desired sweetness. The final balance between the body and aroma of the Port Wine comes from the combination of the different characteristics of the multiple grape varieties used. The wine remains in the Douro where the winter cold helps the sedimentation of the lees. The following spring, after being clarified, it is transported to the Ferreira cellars in V.N.Gaia and placed in oak barrels where it will age for several years, acquiring the incomparable style of the Ferreira brand. During this period, the wines are cared for by the oenology team who monitor their aging and act with blending, topping up, and corrections whenever the tasting determines. The final blend is obtained after selecting wines with their own characteristics and ages between 2 and 5 years that allow maintaining the unique identity of Porto Ferreira Tawny and an average age of 4 years.
