Krohn Colheita 1983 The Porto Colheita Wines are probably the most appreciated and recognized Porto Wines from Krohn. Colheita Port wines come from a single year of high quality, having to spend at least seven years in wood. As a rule, they are only bottled immediately before being sold, which can happen long after the seventh year. For this reason, our Colheitas remain in wood for a long period, acquiring over time a mahogany color characteristic of old wines, as well as a fine and complex bouquet, notes of nuts and hazelnuts, and a silky texture. During aging in wood, they are subject to qualitative control by the Instituto dos Vinhos do Douro e Porto. On the other hand, after bottling, they must indicate on the label the year of production and the year of bottling. The risk of forming sediment at the bottom of the bottle is small, since most of it remains in the wooden vat where the wine aged. After opening the bottle, it is not mandatory to drink it all on the same day – just cork it well, and it can be kept for a long time under these conditions. The next time it is reopened, it will offer the consumer an aroma and flavor of practically intact delicacy.
