Whisky Akashi Single Malt 5 Years Red Wine Cask

Akashi Single Malt 5 Years Red Wine Cask is a whisky produced by the Eigashima - White Oak distillery, located in southern Japan, on the shores of the Seto Inland Sea. For this limited edition, the House's Chef Blender carefully selected some single malts aged for 4 and a half years in Cognac barrels, then transferred them to French red wine barrels for a 10-month maturation. Akashi Single Malt 5 Years Red Wine Cask is bottled without coloring and without chill filtration, with an alcohol content of 50%. Relatively unknown, the White Oak distillery is, however, part of Japanese whisky history, being the first distillery in Japan to obtain a distillation license in 1888. However, it was only in 1919 that intermittent malt spirit production began, and in 1984 a completely new facility dedicated to whisky production was established at the Eigashima site.
