Porto Sandeman Tawny

Selected from the lightest and most elegant wines of each year, these Portos are chosen to age in small oak casks where they develop their own style. Sandeman Porto Fine Tawny has the fruit, style, and finesse of a great Porto. Light in color and body, this Porto is ideal when served chilled as an aperitif or with a starter, and is excellent at the end of a meal. Sandeman Porto Fine Tawny is produced according to the traditional Port Wine method. The hand-picked grapes are destemmed and crushed, followed by fermentation with skin maceration to extract the best components. The addition of grape spirit establishes the balance between the body and aroma of the wine, with the ideal moment determined by the Enology team after rigorous control of fermentation temperatures and densities, a factor that varies according to the grape variety, degree of ripeness, and desired final sweetness. The wines remain in the Douro until they are transported to V.N.Gaia the following spring, where they enter the Sandeman cellars for aging in oak wood casks according to the traditional Port Wine system. Over the years, the wines are carefully racked, tasted, and analyzed, and corrections deemed necessary are made by the enology team. The final blend is then crafted to maintain the consistency and style of Sandeman Porto Fine Tawny, followed by filtration and cold stabilization before bottling.
