Its classic profile, of great elegance and complexity but with great freshness, is unique, being one of the most recognized and celebrated wines in the world. The hand-picked grapes were vinified according to the traditional Vinho do Porto method. The controlled fermentation of the musts took place in stainless steel vats and was stopped by the addition of grape spirit. The wines were very elegant and had great aging potential. The wines that make up the final blend of this Porto Ferreira Dona Antónia Tawny 20 Years remain in the Douro until they are transported to the Ferreira cellars in V.N.Gaia the following spring, entering the traditional aging scheme of Vinho do Porto, in oak casks, with the Porto Ferreira style. During this period, the wine undergoes numerous rackings, analyses, and tastings, which allow monitoring its aging and acting with blending, refreshing, and corrections whenever the tasting determines.
