Quinta De Cidro Gouveio White 2024

Gouveio is one of the best-known white grape varieties in the Douro. Although it is a highly sensitive and low-yielding variety, it is a noble grape that found the perfect conditions for good ripening in the fresh terroir of Quinta de Cidrô. A variety that stands out for its excellent mouthfeel, very rich minerality, and high acidity. Thus, we harvest this Gouveio early to preserve all its character in a fresh and balanced style. Vinification and aging: The grapes are handpicked and transported to the winery in 20kg boxes. After going through a manual selection process, the clusters are destemmed, and the grapes are pressed in a pneumatic press. After a 24-hour settling, alcoholic fermentation of the must follows in stainless steel tanks at 14-16ºC. 80% of the Gouveio aged in barrels (20% new wood) and a cask, both French oak, for a period of 8 months in contact with fine lees using the batonage method, while 20% ages in stainless steel until the blend is made and bottled.
