Description
Description
The Alto vineyard is located in the center of Tapada de Coelheiros, on a slight slope, and is surrounded by a walnut orchard, a meadow, and a stand of maritime pines that inspired the label of this wine. The soils are granitic in origin, deep and rich in clay, which is why the largest area of white grape varieties is found here, particularly the Arinto variety, which gives rise to this wine. The organic matter content is medium (1.5%). In recent years, there has been significant work to improve ground cover by sowing legumes between the rows to promote natural nitrogen fixation and enhance the natural cycle of this element. The training system is bilateral Guyot, which promotes good fertility in this variety, optimizing the skin-to-pulp ratio, resulting in wines with considerable aromatic definition and verticality on the palate. Certified organic since 2019. The grapes were carefully hand-harvested and whole-cluster pressed to minimize solid formation. This was followed by static settling lasting 24 hours. After this period, the must was transferred to used 500-liter French oak barrels, where fermentation and maturation took place over 12 months. Subsequently, the wine was aged in bottle for another four years, aiming to highlight the distinct qualities of the Arinto variety, ideal for age-worthy white wines.
