Van Zeller & Co Vz White 2023

Van Zellers & Co 2023 VZ Douro Branco is produced with native Douro grapes, found in older vineyards, cultivated in the Murça district at about 500 m altitude. This wine is Crafted by Hand, which means that blending is one of the most important parts of winemaking. We select an old vineyard (about 70 years), and create a blend with Viosinho, Rabigato, Códega de Larinho, Gouveio, and Arinto. Winemaking: All grapes are handpicked and selected before being destemmed and lightly crushed by a pneumatic press. The must's acidity is carefully measured and only the first must is fermented and aged in new and used French oak barrels (225 and 500 liters). The wine ages in the same barrels for another 9 months with battonage, before the final blend.
