Nikka Taketsuru Pure Malt Whisky, a whisky with a firm and seductive character, produced by Nikka in Sendai, the Sendai region. On the nose, it is engaging, fresh, and fruity, with freshly squeezed fruit juice, white fruits, peach, and juicy grapes, evolving into elegant notes of pastry and biscuits, reminiscent of panettone with raisins. The malt notes give way to citrus like clementine, a touch of oak, and rustic nuances of verbena and chamomile. On the palate, it reveals coffee, licorice, and toasted oak, with hints of coffee grounds and a slowly burning cigar. It is vigorous, assertive, and uncompromising; the peat subtly insinuates itself.
